Line: A continuous mark that can be used to define space, contours and outlines. Shape: An element of art that is an enclosed space defined by other art elements such as line, color and texture. Form: An element of art that encloses volume such as a cube, sphere, pyramid or cylinder.
A contour line defines the edges and surface ridges of an object. A contour line also creates a boundary separating one area from another.
Line art or line drawing is any image that consists of distinct straight or curved lines placed against a (usually plain) background, without gradations in shade (darkness) or hue (color) to represent two-dimensional or three-dimensional objects. One of the most fundamental elements of art is the line.
There are 5 main types of lines in art: vertical lines, horizontal lines, diagonal lines, zigzag lines, and curved lines. Other types of lines are simply variations of the five main ones.
Contour Lines: contours define the outer edges of a shape and any details inside, like creases or folds.
What feelings and moods do vertical lines usually suggest? The mood of vertical lines convey height, diginity, and stability.
Filters. A line in an artwork that is not physically there but suggested by points in the artwork.
