Ways of reducing barriers to active participation Equality and diversity can help reduce barriers to active participation and help everyone feel important. Make sure the clients are comfortable in the environment. Offer praise, compliments, encouragement and constructive feedback.
As well as ensuring each individual is involved in their own care, active participation can be applied by encouraging them to do as much as they can do for themselves….For example:

Increased opportunities for learning and development of important skills, knowledge, education and employment. Enhanced well-being, with increases in self-confidence, self-esteem and self-belief.
