The astronauts Born Aug. 5, 1930, in Ohio, Armstrong was 38 when he became the first civilian to command two American space missions. Col. Edwin Eugene “Buzz” Aldrin, 39, was the first astronaut with a doctorate to fly in space.
But instead of a bracelet, Armstrong brought one of Karen’s shoes to the moon. During the film, Armstrong on a few occasions gazes longingly at the moon. But during a 2001 interview, historian Douglas Brinkley asked if he ever would “just go out quietly and look at the moon?” Armstrong answered: “No, I never did that.”
Neil Armstrong was the first human to walk on the surface of the moon. He was an astronaut who flew on two space missions. The first was Gemini 8. The second was Apollo 11, which landed on the moon in 1969.

Why is it so difficult? The answer lies in the same fact that keeps Earth from plunging into the Sun: Our planet is traveling very fast — about 67,000 miles per hour — almost entirely sideways relative to the Sun. The only way to get to the Sun is to cancel that sideways motion.
Tough Place to Live No evidence for life has been found on Mercury. Daytime Temperatures can reach 430 degrees Celsius (800 degrees Fahrenheit) and drop to -180 degrees Celsius (-290 degrees Fahrenheit) at night. It is unlikely life (as we know it) could survive on this planet.
Our sun is 4,years old.
The Sun is becoming increasingly hotter (or more luminous) with time. Throughout the subsequent billions of years, the Sun’s luminosity increased gradually and will continue to increase in the future. Astronomers estimate that the Sun’s luminosity will increase by about 6% every billion years.
109 years
Question: How long ago was one billion seconds? Answer: One billion seconds is a bit over 31 and one-half years.
