How to Set Up a Printer on an iPad
Use AirPrint to print wirelessly to an AirPrint-enabled printer from apps such as Mail, Photos, and Safari. Many apps available on the App Store also support AirPrint. iPad and the printer must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
Printers for iPad Printing If all you want is to print photos from your iPad, then you can consider getting either the Envy series of printers or the Photosmart series. These printers are also enabled to perform ePrinting, which allows you to print from anywhere by sending an email to your printer from your iOS device.
AirPrint lets you wirelessly print from your Apple devices without installing any extra software. Without an AirPrint-enabled printer, you can still use other apps to connect to it over Wi-Fi.
‘No AirPrint Printers Found’ is a system message generated by the iOS AirPrint feature. It means you are trying to print a document from another applications using the Print button. iOS does not allow Printer Pro to be launched this way.

There is no way to directly connect an iPad to a hard wired printer though. To be more specific, AirPrint is a LAN protocol, not exclusively Wi-Fi.
As long as the printer has “wifi” connectivity this works like a champ. The printer obviously needs AirPrint for iDevices but this makes your printer available to all devices without wires and internet.
Ensure both the iPad and printer are on the same network with the same frequency. Refresh the iPad’s Wi-Fi connection. This procedure forces the iPad to look for the printer again. To refresh Wi-Fi, open the iPad’s settings, tap Wi-Fi in the left-side list, and tap the green switch to turn Wi-Fi off.
