It doesn’t have to tell everything about the story or provide the illustrator’s unique viewpoint like an editorial illustration. It simply must represent the story in a way that generates interest and curiosity and ultimately leads to sales.

Wrap the covered jacket around the book. Apply Demco® Film Fiber Tape to the outside cover of the book. Wrap the tape around the edge and secure to the book jacket cover inside. Tape the top and bottom of both the front and back covers.
“curling” on soft cover texts
Paper/cover curl is the result of an increase or decrease in the relative humidity in the environment the books are located. The ideal humidity level to keep paper flat is around 45%RH. Paper/cover curl occurs when the relative humidity number shifts in either direction by 10%.
Place the warped book between two flat, heavy objects, such as cinder blocks or 20-pound dumbbell weights resting inside a baking pan, as an alternative to the clamp method. The longer you leave the books tightly clamped in a cool, dry area, the straighter your pages will become.
The best way to do this is by ironing.
Place a heavy item on the closed book to compress wrinkled pages. Using a paperweight, large rock, or even a large book, compress the dried pages in the closed book, leaving them for 24-48 hours. This will help smooth any remaining wrinkles in the pages.
Flatten the creased page with your hand, then close the book. If the book cover is creased, bend it back into place gently. Close the book and place it flat on the table. Stack other books on top of it; the heavier the better.
Lay the page down on a smooth surface such as a 1/2 inch thick metal plate. Flatten it with a non-metallic item such as a roll of blue masking tape, pressing down to squeeze any extra water out of the paper. The goal is to make the page evenly damp.
