A virus, worm or other type of malware can cause a computer to overheat by causing the processor to max out. By continually maxing out the capacity of the computers CPU, the system can and eventually will overheat and could unexpectedly shut down. Another big culprit of an overheating computer are non-functioning fans.
Some computer viruses are programmed to harm your computer by damaging programs, deleting files, or reformatting the hard drive. Even less harmful computer viruses can significantly disrupt your system’s performance, sapping computer memory and causing frequent computer crashes.
Once they have control they can delete files, change passwords and encrypt pictures and documents making the computer not perform or boot up properly. So they can’t stop the power coming to the computer but they can stop it from completing the boot cycle into Windows if they deleted some system files.
A serious malware infection will cause your CPU to work harder and your computer to run at a snail’s pace. Some common malware infections that cause a spike in CPU temperature include: Viruses (system infectors, file infectors, and macro) Trojans (backdoor, rootkit, exploit, among many others)
Let’s go over the steps on how to fix high CPU usage in Windows* 10.
If most of your computer activity is spent idle, anything 0 – 100% on the occasional peak for background services would be acceptable at any given time and the measured average will alternate. When running stressful tasks, anything 70 -100% will be expected for an average depending on your setup.
The video card temperature must be below 85 degrees Celsius. Neither AMD nor Nvidia’s GPUs should go over 70 – 85 degrees Celsius. Also, if the room you keep your PC is cool, the temperature should be somewhere between 55 – 60 degrees Celsius.
GPU is processing at a very acceptable rate! 70C – 75C Okay things are getting really warm. High graphics gaming or optimized mining. We shouldn’t get any hotter.
A good rule of thumb is to keep your GPU temps below 80 degrees Celsius. But the average GPU temp while gaming should be around 65 degrees Celsius to 75 degrees Celsius. Some expert also holds a view that GPU temps around 90 degree Celsius are normal GPU temp. But it is better if you can keep it under 90 degrees.
