You pull out the v6 and replace it with a v8. this can be a simple, “in brand” swap, like a ford motor into a ford vehicle, that’s commonly equipped with a v6 or v8.
New engines start at around $4,000 for a 4-cylinder, around $5,500 for a V6 and $7,000 for a V8. Prices increase from these figures based on complexity of the engine and the brand of car.
If you happen to drive a small engine Camaro, we also carry the 2016-2020 Camaro V6 headers and exhaust systems. A full header back exhaust system can really help your six-cylinder Camaro come alive.

The Camaro RS has the 3.6 liter V6 engine while the SS has the 6.2 liter V8. Just the displacement and number of cylinders are the main difference engine wise.
The V6 has plenty of power and is fun to drive; however, the V8 is more powerful and more fun to drive! Plus, as good as the V6 sounds, it’s no match for the fierce rumble of the V8.

In terms of pure lap times, the ZL1 is the superior car as it will have superior power and road holding capability over the SS to lap a track faster. The thing to keep in mind is that in the hands of a capable driver, the ZL1 is absolutely faster/better.
As for Z28, that moniker stood for “Camaro Special Performance Package.” Product Promotion Engineering specialist Vince Piggins initiated the Z28 to make Camaro a force in SCCA’s Trans-American Sedan Championship series.
Consumers in California and Washington won’t be able to purchase the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro SS or the ZL1 next year. The V8-powered performance sports cars have been banned in the two states. The ban goes into effect on January 1, 2021, so if you can find a model on a dealer lot, you can legally purchase it.
It’s because of this rule that starting on January 1, Chevrolet won’t be able to sell the 2021 Camaro SS, 1LE, and ZL1 in those states due to the copper content of the Brembo brakes, which exceeds 5 percent. The copper from the brake pads, it was found, turns to dust and finds its way into waterways.
Washington and California ban sale of certain Chevrolet Camaros because their brake pads are toxic to fish. California and Washington both have bans on how much copper can be used in brake pads. The laws go into effect in 2021, which means that high-performance versions of the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro are affected.
You Won’t Be Able to Order a 2021 Camaro SS or ZL1 in California or Washington Next Year. Turns out, the pads found on the 2021 Camaro SS, 2SS, ZL1, and ZL1 1LE have more copper than these states would like, and so they can’t be ordered new from dealerships as of next year.
The 2021 Chevrolet Camaro takes 4.1 seconds to complete the 0-60 mph test. Likewise, the quarter of a mile is finished in 12.2 seconds while the top speed of the Camaro is limited to 130 mph. Even the V6 does pretty well in acceleration. Speed lovers will definitely love the ZL1 as it does the same in just 3.5 seconds.
